I read your guide in Evony Forum and came here through your links. Its a good guide. Anyway.. I’m fairly new (started 48 hours ago) and have found very little info on how to play Evony. One of the things I’m keen to learn about is using the market to buy and sell goods but havnt found anything that gives you a step by step guide on how to buy/sell resources. Also, what are valleys and how can they be identified on the Map and how does one take control of them?
Thanks for your help

Thanks for the information. Much of it is intuitive for those who have played other similar games but there were some specifics you cleared up for me that were very helpful. I am still wondering how several power players walked away from plundering my level 8 walls with only a few losses.

How do you aquire promotions in Evony? I would like to reach knight status. Thanks for your help.

Promotions are gained through quests, which require a number of medals that are aquired through combat.

attack small valleys/forests/deserts etc with hero and 50 each of sword/archers times the level of the valleys = lev 3 swamp means attack with hero + 150 each swords and archers

Thank you! An excellent guide that’s given me a good insight in how to play effectively.
I’ll be reading more as you write it.

Hi.
Great guide !
Wonder if you can take over a city, or only steal from it.
Thx

Plundering is just a normal attack, but if you lower loyalty to 0, you can take the city.

Thank you for the guide.
Please can you add a bit more the the defense section of the guide.
I keep getting plundered, and there is nothing I can do. Every time he destroys all my towers, any troops I have behind the ‘open gate’ and takes everything as he has obviously researched Privateering. I cannot upgrade technologies because I never have enough gold, because of the constant plundering! It seems unfair, particularly as he has only been a member for two weeks or so – he clearly buys ‘game cents’.
‘How to repel an attacking force’ would be a section many beginners are crying out for.
Thanks

I couldn’t find this in your guide but what does it mean when your report icon is flashing red?
October 25, 2009 at 7:27 pm |
Your icon on the bottom left corner of the screen will light up and flash (the bird).

Awesome tutorial! Followed it to the T. 3 more BG days & have accomplished all the goals set forth for a good start.
Thanks!

Terrific guide! In my second week I’m building tall walls and protecting my town. But how do I protect all that production I’ve got going outside my gate? I’m more interested in a development strategy than an attack strategy. Thanks!

Warehouses protect goods, but otherwise, the production is not at risk.

Hi. I must join with the many others in saying how amazingly useful this guide is to a complete noob! I’ve only been playing Evony 24 hours, and I’m still learning a huge amount, but this has really helped. I’m still not sure whether you are expected to garrison after successfully attacking them, but I’ll finish reading your guide and see if it’s buried in there somewhere!

You should be able to find what you need, somewhere. If not, post a question somewhere and I will see it.

Thanks for publishing about this. There’s a lot of great tech info on the internet. You’ve got a lot of that info here on your web site. I’m impressed – I try to keep a couple blogs somewhat live, but it’s a struggle sometimes. You’ve done a big job with this one. How do you do it?

WordPress automatically informs you when you have a comment, so I come on whenever I see one and respond.

Thank you for the guide – it has been very helpful. I do have a question about valleys though. I have occupied a desert a forest and a hill, and found in my town hall that they are “idle”. Am I wasting my time occupying these areas – if not, how can I make them “active” so that my resourses are supplemented?
February 23, 2010 at 6:23 pm |
Idle valleys are fine- they still provide goods for you, do not worry

Thanks for the guide. It really gave me much needed info, I started just today. Anyway, I was wondering what will I focus on once I finish the level 3 town hall?
Thanks!

Well, upgrading your techs is very valuable; you also want to build up a big enough army to start farming NPC’s

You’ve heard it before, but I must say this guide is the absolute best!!!!!!!
